Talent Acquisition Consultant
Position Summary
The Talent Acquisition Consultant serves as an internal consultant to leaders and key stakeholders, effectively leading all aspects of the Talent Acquisition and recruiting process. This role provides leadership, direction, and professional expertise in sourcing, recruiting, selecting, and retaining talented individuals for DUHS Nursing & Patient Care Services.
The Talent Acquisition Consultant delivers recruiting results for professional-level direct caregivers in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and strengthens the organization?s reputation as an employer of choice. This role is responsible for exceeding internal client expectations in a timely and efficient manner by identifying, attracting, and hiring top talent aligned with the culture, mission, and values of Duke University Health System (DUHS).
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting Strategy & Execution
Deliver full-cycle recruiting across DUHS through development of local, regional, and national recruiting plans, as applicable.
Utilize traditional sourcing strategies while developing innovative and creative recruiting approaches.
Build and promote an employment brand that attracts top talent within the region.
Maintain candidate pipelines, talent slates, and talent communities.
Ensure a high standard of hiring that aligns with DUHS expectations and continuously raise the talent bar.
Provide thought leadership to enhance and evolve the candidate experience.
Stakeholder Partnership & Program Management
Build and maintain strong partnerships with organizational leaders, hiring managers, and HR Centers of Excellence (COEs).
Act as a trusted consultant and advisor, leveraging strong influencing skills to drive hiring outcomes.
Partner with HR COEs to support workforce planning and achieve future staffing goals, including diversity initiatives.
Data, Systems & Reporting
Conduct targeted market research to inform recruiting strategies using candidate and industry data.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date data within the applicant tracking system (ATS/Brassring) and other HR systems.
Ensure data integrity and transparency across recruiting activities and reporting.
Utilize metrics, dashboards, and analytics to provide actionable insights and decision support.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Talent Acquisition function.
Candidate Management & Compliance
Manage reference checks, background checks, credentialing, and onboarding processes for candidates.
Monitor job offers, compensation practices, and recommend improvements to enhance organizational attractiveness.
Stay informed on industry trends, innovative recruiting practices, and evolving workforce dynamics.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and organizational requirements.
Support and implement diversity recruiting strategies and participate in related events and activities.
Collaborate across the organization to advance diversity and inclusion efforts within talent acquisition.
Build capability among recruiters and hiring managers to support inclusive hiring practices.
Identify and leverage diverse sourcing channels to attract qualified and diverse candidate pools.
Develop and maintain partnerships with diversity-focused organizations and external stakeholders.
Advocate for diversity and inclusion as foundational to DUHS values within Nursing and Patient Care Services.

Expertise in competency-based and behavioral interviewing techniques.
Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
Proficiency with recruiting technologies, including internet sourcing, direct recruiting, and networking tools.
Demonstrated ability to provide constructive, timely, and actionable feedback.
High level of self-motivation, energy, resilience, and results orientation.

Flexibility and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationally as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of progressive Talent Acquisition/related experience required.
Previous experience in data analysis and interpretation strongly preferred.
Previous experience in health care, pharmaceuticals, health insurance or related industry preferred.
Previous experience successfully managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders with a consistent track record of delivering on- time, high quality results.
Previous experience operating in a consultative and/or advisory capacity required.
Experience in developing and delivering recruitment strategies and processes to improve outcomes (decreased time to fill, increased quality of hire, etc.) required.
Experience as a change agent, comfortable with ambiguity, in a fast- paced business environment required.
Previous experience utilizing an ATS required.
Previous experience with social media (LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter) required.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
PHR, CHR, RACR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP/SCP preferred.
