Responsible for the functions which provide administrative assistance to the Medical Staff that enable them to fulfill their duties and obligations as defined by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Extensive knowledge of credentialing concepts, Joint Commission standards, Title 22, CMS and HIPPA regulations.
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with department staff, physician customers, and hospital staff.
Ability to analyze, trend, and identify issues that should be addressed.
Strong organizational skills and ability to see long range planning needs.
Flexibility and ability to function in stressful situations.
Familiar with Echo software preferred.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential
Provides administrative assistance and support to the Medical Staff leadership.
Oversees the functions of the Medical Staff Office and is accountable for managing the credentialing and re-credentialing activities of Kaweah Health.
Responsible for maintaining accurate Medical Staff files.
Responsible for maintaining a current master copy of the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and policies.
Acts as resource person for accreditation standards and other regulations governing the activities of the Medical Staff (i.e.: NCQA, Joint Commission, CMA, Title 22, HCFA, Medi-Cal and HIPPA).
Collaborates with management, physicians, clinical administrators and operational departments to facilitate Medical Staff Office service standards.
Maintains financial records of the Medical Staff, billing/collecting staff dues; prepares periodic financial report.
Supervises the scheduling and maintenance of the master Medical Staff activities calendar, Medical Staff Roster and the Emergency Department On-Call Specialty Roster.
Recommends requirements for space and other resources. Participates in selecting outside sources for needed services.
Enhances professional growth and maintains awareness of current industry trends, legislation or research which could impact the department and organization.
Oversees the functions of the Medical Staff Peer Review Activities.
Responsible for communicating to the general Medical Staff regarding hospital policies, events and changes in leadership or processes.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.

QUALIFICATIONS
License /Certification
Required: Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
Preferred: Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM)
Education
Preferred: Bachelor's degree
Experience
Required: Five years of medical staff experience and three years supervisory experience.
