Summary:
Key member of the Supply Chain Leadership team responsible for implementing a vision and plan for strategic sourcing and procurement activities aligned with the department's goals.
Develops and leads a collaborative procurement team, oversees product, services and capital equipment procurement activities for the organization. Fosters best practice in research, benchmarking, and procurement operations.
Maintains professional, effective relationships with Supply Chain colleagues, Akron Children's management, clinical and operational leaders and staff, vendors and process partners.
Fosters the organization values, supportive of Akron Children's culture, diversity and inclusion, quality and cost initiatives and imperatives.
Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for building and guiding a collaborative and productive team of Buyers. Leads by example and coaches Team members to aid in their professional growth and development.
2. Creates a vision and plan for the department's procurement Team. Assists and manages long-term planning and change control processes.
3. Directs all aspects of procurement activities of product, services and capital equipment. Sets standards for best practice procurement related activities.
4. Adopts and communicates procurement performance indicators (KPIs) and department performance standards, regularly reviews open order (expedite), buyer message, invoice not received, and other reporting aids supporting efficiency and productivity.
5. Assures appropriate compliance with Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts.
6. Creates and revises Supply Chain Department policies to comply with hospital directives, and state and federal regulatory guidelines.
7. Actively promotes vendor diversity and inclusion. Provides management oversight of vendor access and credentialing program.
8. Establishes and manages quality and cost management goals on an annual basis, supports budget targets via sourcing strategies and reporting.
9. Coordinates and documents contract revisions pertaining to location additions, deletions and schedule modifications for service-based activities including but not restricted to confidential document destruction, sharps disposal, courier service, cleaning services, and desktop supply delivery.
10. Keeps apprised of new clinical and non-clinical devices and emerging technologies. Knowledgeable in medical-surgical products and equipment. Acquainted with reimbursement terminology.
11. Fosters professional, effective relationships with management, clinical and operational leaders and staff, colleagues and process partners.
12. Develops and maintains ethical and professional relationships with vendor management and representatives to effectively manage performance.
13. Regular interface with Supply Chain Management's customers assuring satisfaction with procurement services.
14. Supports Supply Chain Management - Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) awareness and training with the Supply Chain Team and ERP Requisitioners. Encourages use of ERP contracts and system assigned items.
15. Creates and presents periodic reports and data to SCM and ACH leadership as scheduled or requested. Assists others as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise
1. Experience in managing procurement tasks and assignments, and vendor product sourcing is required
2. Experience working with organization leadership, managers and staff is required
3. Experience in healthcare preferred
4. Clinical product, equipment and service knowledge preferred
5. Enterprise resource planning system (ERP) or material management information system (MMIS) experience required, healthcare ERP / MMIS experience preferred
6. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] required
Education and Experience
1. Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, procurement or related field, or degree in a clinical field required Master's degree preferred. Extensive / proven hospital procurement management experience may be considered in place of some educational requirements.
2. Training and experience in a medical field helpful
3. Years of relevant experience: 5 to 7 years is preferred
4. Years of supervisory experience: 3 to 5 years is strongly preferred
