Position Summary & Mission Provides clinical and financial screening of all individuals seeking services over the telephone or in person. Determines appropriate clinical placement within the agency. Screens for appropriateness of treatment at GLMH (Medicaid funding, resident of Pierce County). Gathers, organizes and documents all clinical, financial and demographic information. Schedules with Assessors, and encourages walk-ins assessments. Interacts with outside individuals and companies in a professional manner. Provides clinical and financial screening of all individuals seeking services - over the telephone or in person. 2. Performs all necessary documentation and data entry.3. Assures that all clinical and administrative documentation is completed in a thorough, accurate, timely and appropriate manner.4. Complete administrative documentation in a timely and accurate manner, such as Time Sheets, Mileage Reimbursement forms, etc.Secondary Functions
Participates in required meetings, agency-mandated trainings, committee work and special agency projects (in-service training, program development, etc.)Job Scope This position's complexity is moderate. Responsibilities are fairly well-defined with established procedures and criteria. Incumbents must be able to exercise good clinical judgment in screening callers efficiently to determine if they meet established criteria for services. The position has little direct budgetary accountability. Errors in work could result in inappropriate approval or denial of services or duplicate accountsKnowledge and Skills Needed Requires knowledge and understanding of basic mental health symptoms,; an ability to work effectively and efficiently in a managed care environment; knowledge of the major components of a mental status examination; a basic awareness of substance abuse/dependence issues; a knowledge of community resources; a trauma sensitive perception of the needs of individuals with disabilities; a keen understanding of the importance of clear, professional boundaries, and maintenance of such; possession of proven teamwork skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; and demonstration of solid, common sense.Qualifications A.A. degree in a mental health related field plus two years of experience working with the severely and persistently mentally ill population; or an equivalent combination of education and experience ensuring the possession of required knowledge and skills. Must be eligible for a Washington State Department of Health Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration credential.
