Schedule: Full Time Days

Shift:  Monday – Friday; 40 hours a week

The role you’ll contribute:

The Financial Counselor performs insurance verification, pre-certification, in-house follow-up and discharge, pre-registration, registration and collecting upfront cash for patients into Shawnee Mission Medical Center in a pleasant and accurate manner. The financial counselor performs his/her duties by assisting and screening patient with the qualifications of the hospital’s financial assistance program. The Financial Counselor performs follow-up on outstanding balances and self-pay accounts. It also takes and processes payments from patients.

·         Interacts and communicates with co-workers, physicians, hospital empoyees, patients and visitors in a considerate , positive manner.

·         Uses professional discretion to ensure confidentiality of information concerning employees, patients and the hospital, as outlined in hospital policies

·         Protects the legal and financial standing of the hospital by obtaining appropriate signatures on consent to treat forms and other required assignment of benefits forms, adhering to written policies and procedures.

·         Incorporates patient, physician, customer needs and concerns into decision-making and organizational action.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

·         High School Diploma or Equivalent

·         1 to 2 Years of Position-Related Experience
