Wellstar, the largest health system in Georgia and known nationally for its innovative care models focused on quality improvement and increased access to healthcare, is seeking a new President for Wellstar Douglas Hospital. Located in Douglasville, GA, in Douglas County, less than 30 minutes from Downtown Atlanta, Wellstar Douglas is a 108-bed hospital designed with patient care in mind and cutting-edge technology. In April 2020, Wellstar Douglas achieved global recognition as the first hospital in Wellstar and the 4^th in the state of Georgia to receive the American Nurses Credentialing Center Pathway to Excellence Designation.  It has been ranked among the top small hospitals in the state and has also received 12 consecutive “A Grades” from Leapfrog.

The Senior Vice President and Hospital President is the operating and strategic leader of the hospital and provides leadership and management for all aspects of hospital operations including financial performance, clinical quality, employee, physician, and community relations. Building upon the strong financial and operational foundation that Douglas Hospital has achieved to date, the new President will bring diverse stakeholders together to articulate and execute a strategic vision which continually assesses and takes advantage of changing market dynamics and seizes opportunities related to innovation, the ongoing development of a continuum of care strategy, expanded service lines and contemporary business models – all in partnership with physicians, the community and system stakeholders.

With over 24,000 healthcare professionals, Wellstar’s state-of-the-art facilities include 11 hospitals, 300+ medical office locations, 9 cancer centers, 55 rehabilitation centers, 3 hospice facilities, 1 retirement village, 21 imaging centers, 15 urgent care locations, and 5 health parks.

Ideal Qualifications for this position include the following:

• A graduate degree in business, healthcare administration or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in a leadership role of a progressive, hospital or health system preferably in a suburban market. Acceptable experience could be the President or CEO of a comparable or smaller organization or COO of a comparable to larger organization.
• Strong operational experience is important for this leader along with a track record demonstrating the ability to effectively function as the market leader given the strong market indicators for growth and the proximity to the Atlanta market dynamics.
• Successful track record of leading an organization to achieve high levels of patient safety and quality.
• Prior experience in business development and in developing and executing growth strategies for the future.
• Highly relational combined with superb communications skills, both written and verbal, and a transparent and open communication style.
• Strong track record of external, public, and community involvement is required for this role. Ability to represent the organization in an authentic and credible fashion as a committed community member.
