The hospital Medical Informatics Specialist (MIS) under direct supervision from the hospital clinical informaticist leader and according to established policies and procedures, functions, as an electronic medical record (EMR) system expert and is responsible for providing end user training and support for all providers and nurses utilizing the EMR.
The MIS coordinates and conducts training for newly credentialed physicians and providers.
The MIS will also train newly onboarded medical residents and students.
The MIS is responsible for purposeful hospital rounding; providing direct support to providers and nurses to ensure end users successfully integrate the EMR into clinical workflow.
The MIS ensures consistent and effective use of the EMR that aligns with policy, procedure and standards.
The MIS will train on EMR changes as a result of application upgrades or system enhancements.
The MIS will develop communication to ensure providers and nurses are informed and trained.
On rounds, the MIS regularly provides suggestions and seeks feedback from physicians and clinicians regarding the EMR.
The MIS identifies issues, performs system testing to trouble-shoot issues, logs tickets with customer support, escalates to the clinical informaticist and tracks the issue ensuring timely problem resolution.
The MIS collaborates with the hospital CI and MDI to train providers and clinicians on the EMR, promote "voice of the customer" and improve EMR satisfaction and IS service and support.
Required: Associate degree in a healthcare care related field. Exceptions to education requirements may be approved by Regional Clinical Informatics Director.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Required: Use of and experience with a clinical information system in a health care delivery system.
Preferred: Experience as an EMR super-user, trainer or "elbow" support to end users.

Frequent sitting. Moderate standing, walking, reaching, stooping, and bending.
Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the job.
