Provide oversight, direction and guidance for the Biomedical Sciences faculty to ensure all academic responsibilities are achieved with the highest level of professionalism to accomplish the RVU and MCOM mission statements.
Provide leadership to team with regular feedback, assessments, performance evaluations, and performance improvement actions. The Chair is responsible for recruiting, developing, advancing and retaining department faculty and staff aligned with the RVU core values.
Develop annual department budget and effectively manage all allocated resources of the department in adherence to RVU policies and procedures.
Help build a culture that respects, values, and promotes diversity by recruiting, hiring, and retaining diverse talent within an atmosphere of access, equity, and inclusion.
Work in partnership with the Chair of Clinical Sciences, Directors of Pre-Clinical Education, Director of Tracks and Electives to ensure a cohesive curriculum plan and execution.
Work collaboratively with other departments to provide faculty support for other courses, educational events, or activities offered by the University.
Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and modification as part of RVU’s continuous quality improvement and assessment processes.
Represent RVU with positivity and integrity in collaborative initiatives with internal and external stakeholders to help accomplish the mission of the University.
Serve as an active participant on various committees or task forces or other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Assist administration, faculty and staff in special projects as required.
Act as liaison between MCOM, the professional community, other educational institutions and organizations as indicated or directed by the Assistant or Associate Dean or Dean of MCOM.
Participate in relevant and appropriate community and professional outreach activities on behalf of the college and the university.
