JOB SUMMARY: Working under the direction of the department manager, this position performs a variety of medical procedures with mastery, producing quality studies under a variety of conditions. Serves as a clinical expert and resource for the Sonography Department including performing and assisting in fetal cardiac, transesophageal, epicardial and intracardiac echocardiographic procedures in outpatient, inpatient, cath lab and operative environments. Acts as a department resource to the Cardiologist and service-line. Participates in the rotation of on-call duties and Outreach Clinic involvement with other Cardiac Sonographers. Generates and prepares a draft echocardiogram report using the archiving and report writing software. Assists in the identification and resolution of work process issues within the department. Assists with staff scheduling and provides feedback to management regarding performance issues and appraisals. Performs EKGs, Holter and multi-event applications as needed.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires an Associates degree in Echocardiography/Ultrasonography OR completion of an accredited Echocardiography/Ultrasound Technical/Vocation training program with a High School Diploma/GED. If individual has neither accredited program not 2 year degree, High School Diploma and equivalent experience sufficient to allow for successful completion of either ARDMS or CCI Certification required below. Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Cardac Sonography is preferred.
RDCS - PE ARDMS Pediatric Echocardiography or CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International
BLS is required within 30 days of hire or transfer into position.
