The Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator is assigned the primary responsibility of credentialing for the healthcare system and all related activities. This includes processing applications for initial appointments, reappointments, and temporary privileges. Ensures thorough and timely verification of Medical Staff and Advanced Practice Professional (APP) Staff credentialing and privileging according to the medical staff bylaws, medical staff policies, and applicable TJC standards.
The individual must have knowledge of medical staff functions and the ability to handle medical staff meeting coordination including preparing for, taking meeting minutes and handling all activities involving assigned departments or committees.
Further responsibilities include data management, ED call schedules, the coordination of the conclusion of the Initial and Reappointment processes, assisting with the OPPE/FPPE process and CME program.
High school diploma/equivalent required. AA or AS degree preferred.
Three (3) years medical staff experience in an acute care setting including credentialing, privileging, committee chair support, and experience with TJC survey process. Five (5) years credentialing experience in a CVO environment may be considered.
Meeting coordination and taking meeting minutes.
Understanding of medical staff regulatory and accreditation standards.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and credentialing databases (MD-Staff experience preferred).
Knowledge of quality assessment and performance improvement functions.
Able to function independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to adapt to changing schedules, deadlines and demands, and a heavy workload.
Professional demeanor, excellent critical thinking skills, strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to complete job responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy under minimum supervision, requiring a sense of self-direction and a strong sense of responsibility and accountability to ensure that work is completed accurately and timely.
Discretion and judgment in the handling of confidential and/or sensitive information.
CPCS certification preferred. If not certified at time of hire, must obtain CPCS certification within 2 years of hire date.
