The Manager, HIM Coding Edits functions under the direction of the Coding Director. Responsible for day-to-day operational management of the Coding Coordinators, including productivity and quality monitoring, timecard reconcilation, and performance management. Responsbile for management of the RED worklist and Rapid Response processes and tracks and trends issues for escalation and resolution. In addition, the Manager, HIM Coding Edits ensures all facilities are properly staffed and productive in order to meet and sustain Tenet goals.
Description of Responsibilities:
Responsible for the operational management of the Outpatient Coding Coordinators, including productivity and quality monitoring, timecard reconciliation, and performance management.
Oversees the RED worklists and Rapid Response processes and tracks and trends issues for escalation and resolution.
Ensures all facilities are properly staffed and productive in order to meet and sustain Tenet goals, including DNFC/DNFB and other operational metrics.
Works with the Coding Director on process improvement and workflow redesign to improve efficiency.
Attends Tenet coding education sessions and maintains coding credentials.
Thorough knowledge of ICD- 10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding principles associated with Official Coding Guidelines and regulatory requiements.
Working knowledge of disease processes, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and knowledge of reimbursement structures.
Experience with resolving coding edits, including, application of modifiers, charge reconciliation, E&M level assignment, medical necessity, and LCD/NCD requirements
Ability to create and analyze reports for gaps, trends, and other areas of opportunity
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Experience with encoders and computerized abstracting systems
Organizational skills for initiation and maintenance of efficient work flow
Capacity to work independently
Associates Degree in Health Information Management or associated healthcare field of study
Minimum of three years of outpatient coding experience
One to three years of coding leadership experience
RHIT and/or CCS credential
Bachelorâ��s Degree in Health Information Management or associated healthcare field of study
Five or more years of outpatient coding experience
Five or more years of directly leading large coding teams in a complex health system
RHIA and/or CCS
