University of New Mexico Hospitals Lifeguard Critical Care Transport program seeks a motivated and self directed professional to join our Leadership Team as Paramedic Supervisor. As an extension of New Mexicoâs only Level 1 academic medical center, Lifeguard brings advanced skills and medical therapies to the residents of New Mexico. Lifeguard partners with EMS Consortium Fellowship program offering education and training to future physicians in the field of Critical Care Transport. Our program supports the only New Mexico Childrenâs Transport Team caring for the most premature and vulnerable populations within New Mexico and boarding states. In collaboration with UNMH Intensivist we bring ECMO cannulation and transport to the bedsides of remote regional hospitals. Operates within scope of practice as defined by New Mexico Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, UNMH Lifeguard approved Special Skills, and UNMH Lifeguard approved advanced patient care protocols and clinical procedures. Provide clinical leadership for staff. Serve as a role model to promote positive work environment and quality patient care. Function as a patient advocate. Participate in research, quality, and program outreach initiatives. Serve as a clinical expert to Lifeguard patient care providers. In conjunction with Lifeguard Medical Director; oversee initial and ongoing training and educational requirements to maintain staffâs proficiency in clinical skills and knowledge related to patient care. Develop and provide external educational offerings to program customers and stake holders. Provide oversight to Lifeguard Quality and/or Safety Committee. Ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric age groups. |

SUPERVISION - Coordinate and supervise assigned personnel
DESIGN - In conjunction with lifeguard Medical Director: Design, implement, and oversee initial orientation and ongoing learning program that meets all requirements for continuing education as per New Mexico Bureau of Emergency Medical Services
ROLE MODEL - Serve as a role model for excellence in practice
MONITOR â Monitor medical knowledge and patient care proficiency of Lifeguard clinical providers through direct observation or chart review
OVERSIGHT â Responsible for essential remediation of clinical skills and proficiency for Lifeguard clinical providers when necessary
MONITOR â Monitor clinical providers required licensure, credentials, and certifications for compliance, address deficiencies if necesaary
ALS - Provide advanced life support to include oral/nasal endotracheal intubation, needle thoracostomy, needle/surgical cricothyroidotomy, introsseous catheter insertion, pericardiocentesis; perform 12-lead EKG's and chemical blood glucose tests
STANDARDS - Monitor compliance with specific objectives; ensure implementation of and compliance with standards, objectives, and operating policies and procedures; follow up with Director on any concerns
DEVELOPS - Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates educational programs
DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
RELATED WORK - Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

4 years and minimum 5,000 hours Pre-Hospital 911 service, average 4-6 transports in 12 hour period or 3 years Pre-Hospital 911 service with average 4-6 transports in 12 hour period and 1 year experience in acute care setting for minimum 5,000 hours clinical practice as a paramedic

| Licensure/Certification Requirements: |

New Mexico EMT-P or eligible. Must be licensed by start date.
One of the following: National Registry Paramedic, CCEMT-P, FP-C, CCP-C
Instructor Certification in course such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.
CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
PALS or equivalent pediatric advanced life support certification
TPATC or ATLS or ATLS audit w/in 1 year
NRP w/in 1 year
STABLE w/in 1 year
Valid New Mexico Driver's License
Must obtain UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit w/i 60 days of position
