The Credentialing Coordinator supports the functions of the Department of Medical Staff Services. The Coordinator will:
be familiar with established policies and procedures and accreditation and regulatory standards for hospital and managed care credentialing
Performs privileging in accordance with TJC,CMS and other regulatory requirements for the purpose of practitioner privileging on the Medical/Affiliate Staff.
Manages practitioner files working cooperatively with practitioners and representatives to ensure the seamless and timely flow of credentials information in order to meet appointment and reappointment deadlines.
Continuously audits expireable documents and supports the function of the Medical Staff Office.
Demonstrate an understanding of the bylaws of the Medical Staff and Credentialing Handbook
Must be able to demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and problem solving skills in executing functions to ensure the orderly flow of business.
Credentials practitioners with contracted health plans
Maintain accurate current data in all processes.
Provides timely accurate response to customer's needs.
Must be able to multi-task and work independently.
Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
At a minimum, three years experience in medical staff services environment.
Certification Requirements:CPCS Preferred
Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more
of the following: Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Meditech (if applicable to position), Epic (if applicable to position) and Performance Manager/NetLearning.
Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
Good customer service skills.
Must be able to accurately type 55 words per minute.
Must be reliable, responsbile and accountable for work performed.
Must possess organizational skills and be able to prioritize tasks to handle voluminous paper flow in order to meet cyclical deadlines; strong analytical skills; meticulous attention to detail; excellent time management skills.
Must be able to take initiative in achieving expected results.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality and to exercise good judgment.
