Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer of El Camino Health, the Director of Medical Staff Services manages a staff of 8FTE’s and works collaboratively with the Chiefs of Staff, the Medical Executive Committee (MEC) and additional medical staff members to plan, organize and direct the programs and activities related to the operation of the medical staff organization.
We seek candidates who possess a deep commitment to providing high quality and comprehensive support to the overall operation of a complex medical staff organization. A minimum of ten (10) years of previous healthcare administrative experience within a hospital, multi-specialty group practice or clinic setting, combined with five (5) years direct responsibility for medical staff services and hospital credentialing is required. Individuals should be familiar with the standards and requirements of The Joint Commission, CMS, CDPH/Title 22 and NCQA surrounding the provision of medical staff services including experience in the development of delineation of clinical privileges, OPPE, FPPE and proctoring criteria. Serious individuals will demonstrate both the technical skills and the political aptitude to establish successful professional partnerships with healthcare administrators and physician leaders.
A Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare related field or equivalent work experience is required; Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA) or Public Health (MPH) is strongly preferred. Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification is required.

A Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), John was the recipient of the Healthcare Association of Southern California's 1995 Award of Excellence, and the ACHE Regent's Award in both 1998 and 2002. He has previously served as the ACHE Regent for Southern California and the Regent-at-Large for the Western United States (District V).
