Hospital for Special Surgery, (#1 leader in Orthopedics 10 years in a row!), is currently looking for a Credentialing Assistant to play an integral role in supporting the credentialing/privileging process as well as various administrative projects. You will be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all Medical Staff related information, organizing and preparing for committee meetings, and ensuring compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, accrediting and regulatory agencies (i.e., Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) in regards to credentialing while developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the statutes and laws. In this role the ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail and organization, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Major Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assists with the process for Physician/Allied Health initial appointment applications and reappointment applications
Assesses completeness of information and qualifications relative to established standards. Identify and flag adverse information from application materials for the purpose of conducting special follow-up investigations in preparation for Credentials Committee review
Assists with responding to all 2805-K verification query requests
Organize and maintain credentials files
Perform other related administrative Medical Staff Department assignments (data entry, filing, scanning, delivering) as required
High School Diploma
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team; offers to help coworkers when needed
Computer skills (MS Office) , including word processing and data base maintenance
Self-motivated with the ability to complete projects independently within established timeframes
Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
Associates degree with 2 -3 years of previous credentialing experience in a healthcare setting required
