JFK Memorial Hospital has provided medical care to residents in the Coachella Valley since 1966. A group of physicians, including Dr. Reynaldo Carreon, founded the hospital and today one of JFKï¿½s cross streets is named in his honor.
Originally called Indio Community Hospital, JFK has grown to a 145-bed acute-care hospital that is part of Tenet Healthcare California. The Health Information Management Department is service-oriented departments whose goal is to accurately, confidentially and legally maintain the medical record on patients seen at JFK Memorial Hospital. This includes proper handling of the medical record to ensure all departmental, regulatory and legal requirements are met regarding the medical record. In addition, the transcription of reports, coding of records, copying of the medical record according to policy, birth certificate processing, timely completion and availability of the medical record for continuity of care as well as customer services.
The Coding Specialist level 2 is a skilled level position with knowledge and experience with ICD 9 and CPT coding. The responsibility of the Coding Specialist is to code all in-patient and out-patient medical records and abstract pertinent information as per policy. All in-patient and out-patient coding will be coded according to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT). A Coding Specialist 2 must be knowledgeable and skilled in all levels of coding including emergency department, interventional radiology, outpatient surgery and other ancillary encounters.
1. At least three (3) years experience working in an acute hospital setting coding a variety of in-patient records.
2. Must be knowledgeable in coding out-patient records with en-coder computerized coding experience.
3. High School Diploma, successful completion of college courses in medical terminology and anatomy/physiology - preferred
