The Regional Clinical Informatics (CI) Director is a leadership position that aligns with clinical operations at the regional and hospital levels. This role provides mentorship and guidance to the hospital CIs to ensure they are fulfilling their role as a department leader and informatics subject matter expert with maximum effectiveness and has dotted-line authority over hospital CI Directors in the assigned region. The strength of the clinical informatics roles at the national, regional, and hospital levels are a critical success factor to optimizing the use of the EHR to improve patient outcomes.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Oversee the electronic health record sustainment plans of hospitals in region to support the achievement of meaningful use, Leapfrog, and other clinical operations initiatives
Provide skills development and mentorship to hospital clinical informatics directors, partnering with the hospital and regional chief nursing officers
Serve as ACI executive liaison with regional leaders and hospital A-Teams
Facilitate meetings and forums for CI professional growth, information exchange, issue resolution and leveraging of best practices for outcomes driven results
Baccalaureate degree in nursing required, with associated credentialing in good standing. Masters degree in a related health care field required.
Minimum 5 years experience in clinical informatics, with 3 years in a multi-hospital organization in support and optimization of electronic patient records (EHR) using corporate-wide standards; Informatics certification a plus, and in-depth experience with major acute care EHR vendors (i.e. Cerner, Epic, Meditech) a plus.
Must be able to cultivate and maintain strong alliances with regional executives, providing informatics expertise and escalating clinical/operational issues to the appropriate clinical/operational colleague.
Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills required. Must serve as a model of credibility, professionalism, and customer service.
Must have healthcare management experience and ability to influence executive leaders
Strong conceptual skills, with demonstrated knowledge and skill in problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolutions, and critical thinking
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other teams (technology, training, value realization, program management, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and facilitate change and innovation
Good understanding of clinical workflows and integration of technology
