The Medical Staff Services Department is responsible for facilitation of the business of the collective Organized Medical and Clinical Staff. This position is responsible for all aspects of their assigned Departments/Divisions/Committees to include vetting and processing of appointment and reappointment applications, elevations, privileges additions/deletions/changes, proctoring, ongoing and focused professional practice evaluations, leaves of absence, alternate and/or supervisor changes, resignations, etc. In addition, this position coordinates, facilitates, attends, records, and follows up with all applicable meeting functions pertaining to their assigned areas.
Has the responsibility of overseeing the credentialing/OPPE/FPPE process, policies and functions, and all related on-line, technical and software support to include: Training and development of Credentialing Specialist and Medical Staff Services Specialist regarding credentialing functions and software. Credentialing related goal development and management; Credentialing System implementation lead; Credentialing System project related duties; Credentialing Policies and Procedures.
Maintaining regulatory and accreditation credentialing related compliance and active participation in survey preparation.
Coordinating all activities, reports and information for Credentials Committee submission, attending Credentials Committee, preparing Credentials Committee minutes and coordinating all follow-up activities in preparation for subsequent Credentials Committee and Medical Executive Committee meetings.
Maintaining appropriate credentialing timelines for all aspects of credentialing of each practitioner, and overseeing process to meet all credentialing related deadlines and expiration dates. Trouble-shooting any online, technical, software issues.
Coordinates all Medical Staff and Clinical Staff credentialing and privileging activities for all specific Department/Division practitioners assigned, from receipt of application, to Credentials Committee, to include developing database information for practitioner, verifying all background information, performing required internet search of information on practitioner, analyzing information obtained to insure completeness of file, preparing temporary privileges forms, preparing appointment letters for CEO’s signature, performing all follow-up activity through to elevation of the practitioner.
Computerizes privileges granted.
Processes all aspects of resignations/terminations to include database management, and notifications.
Provides meeting coverage, recording discussions, typing and proofing minutes and performing necessary meeting follow up and/or necessary correspondence for all specific Department/ Division/Committees assigned. In addition, provides backup coverage as needed for unassigned committees.
Assists with answering department phones and Physician Referral Line as needed.
