The Medical Staff Services (MSS) Coordinator is accountable for direct coordination and supervision of Medical Staff Services operations, under the general direction of the Department Manager. Exercises discretionary judgment in solving problems and provides leadership in supervising staff and promoting team building amongst staff. The MSS Coordinator organizes specified activities for departmental personnel and provides liaison services amongst the Medical Staff, departmental personnel and hospital staff/administration. Provides resources and information for the Medical Staff such that its duties and obligations are carried out in accordance with national, State and local regulatory agencies and in accordance with the Medical Staff governance documents..
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
Comprehensive knowledge of medical-legal issues, laws, regulatory agency requirements and standards.
Experience: Minimum three years experience in Medical Staff Services in a hospital setting.
Comprehensive expertise and knowledge of Medical Staff leadership and of Medical Staff Services. Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Skills: Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills.
Working knowledge of current Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other regulatory requirements for Medical Staff.
Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively with all levels of professionals.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding the Medical Staff, and other sensitive personal/professional information.
Ability to prioritize work assignments.
Basic familiarity with computers preferred.
