Responsible for managing, monitoring, researching, screening and updating all physician and allied health files for Southwest Health System. The assigning and monitoring of physician privileges are managed by this individual as well as ongoing communication with Medical Staff leadership and Administration. It is imperative that this information be timely and accurate at the risk of legal or regulatory issues. The MSS Coordinator works closely with the Chief of Medical Staff, CEO, Risk Management, Sr. Clinical Ops Advisor, Peer Review Committee, Medical Executive Committee and Board of Directors to assure continuity of recommendations and actions. As the MSS Coordinator is usually the new physician’s first contact with Southwest Health System, this individual must execute education/orientation in a professional self-confident and well organized manner.
Medical Staff Credentialing:
Oversees credentialing process for the medical staff for Southwest Health System.
Oversees the delegated credentialing process for the Physician Hospital Organization.
Establishes and maintains confidential physician files.
Responds to the medical staff reference requests.
Medical Staff Support:
Coordinates meetings for Medical Staff.
Documents meeting attendance and proceedings of the meeting.
Interprets medical staff bylaws, applicable law, state and federal regulations and accreditation requirements to the Medical Staff.
Analyzes and recommends changes to the medical staff bylaws on an on-going basis to confirm with internal and external changes.
Facilitates functions of organized Medical Staff as outlined in Medical Staff By-Laws/Rules and Regulations.
Completes all initial, re-credentialing and on-going maintenance of provider enrollment applications for Medicare, Colorado Medicaid, Utah Medicaid, Arizona Medicaid, New Mexico Medicaid, Colorado Access, Medicare Railroad, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Assists and monitors the compliance of SHS with facility credentialing.
Participates in departmental and hospital PI projects.
Maintains and distributes monthly Medical Staff Monthly Calendar and On-Call Schedules.
Schedules and supports all meetings for the Medical Staff (MEC, General Staff and all others as determined) including meeting notices, catering, copying, etc.
Provides support for credentialing and recredentialing providers in accordance with Medical Staff bylaws and regulatory requirements.
Supports all Medical Staff CME activities, including but not limited to: Arrangement for speakers, accommodations, event location and catering coordination, all required documentation for CME credits through Colorado CME Accreditation agencies.
Provides support to ensure continuous compliance with all Hospital, Medical Staff and Regulatory agencies.
Coordinates the flow of information between the medical staff, organizations and other health systems.
Communicates with outside agencies.
Coordinates physician recruitment activities with Practice Administrator.
