Under general supervision, the medical staff services coordinator is responsible for providing administrative and credentialing support for the activities of the medical-dental staff, assisting the manager/director with all medical staff requirements, maintain records and systems that result in efficient program operation, supporting the medical/dental/allied health credentialing/validation process, including new applications, privileges, changes, and reappointments.
Education: High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience: Currently employed in the medical services profession for at least the past twelve consecutive months AND has a total of three years experience in the medical services profession within the past five years required.
Licensure/certification/registration: Current NAMSS CPCS and/or CPMSM certification. Must be capable of obtaining one of these certifications within three years of hire required.
Additional skills required: Experience with a heightened understanding of the medical staff organizational structure and hospitals operations. Extensive knowledge of corporate compliance issues (HIPAA, Stark II and III, JC, CMS, etc.). Extensive knowledge of Joint Commission medical staff standards. Advanced writing and editorial skills. Ability to make independent procedural decisions and judgments. Skill in establishing priorities with independent coordination of day-to-day aspects. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to multi-task. Presentation skills. Conflict resolution skills. Superior knowledge of Microsoft applications, primarily Excel and MSWord. Knowledge of Adobe Professional Knowledge of ECHO credentialing software or similar credentialing software. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed.
