Responsible for all aspects of the credentialing, recredentialing and privileging processes for all medical providers who provide patient care at The Alaska Heart Institute.
Responsible for ensuring providers are credentialed, appointed, and privileged with health plans, hospitals and patient care facilities. Maintain up-to -date data for each provider in credentialing databases and online systems; ensure timely renewal of licenses and certifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Maintain doctor, physician assistant, and nurse practitioner personal confidential files with the following:
Maintain current Curriculum Vitae
Maintain for CME records
Maintain malpractice insurance files, including claims record
Maintain practice license and registrations with the following information
State medical licenses.
State controlled substance registration.
Special state medical permits.
Hospital privileges for doctors, physician assistants nurse practitioners, and physician extenders.
CLIA laboratory certificates for each office.
CMS Medicare/Medicaid Provider Enrollment.
Serve as Government and Commercial Insurance Provider Relations liaison.
Enroll doctors, physician assistant, and nurse practitioners.
Update commercial provider directories.
Maintain Provider Relations contacts.
Provide credentialing information, when requested, to referring physicians' office and pharmacies.
Sets up and maintains provider information in online credentialing database a system.
Tracks license and certification expirations for all providers to ensure timely renewals.
Ensures practice addresses are current with health plans, agencies and other entities.
Reads and routes mail concerning credentialing to appropriate areas or files.
Composes and types routine correspondence.
Organizes and maintains file system, and files correspondence and other records.
Makes copies of correspondence or other printed materials when required.
Prepares outgoing mail and correspondence, including e-mail and faxes.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Associate Degree preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) required, or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire. Employer assistance provided.
Experience: Two years of relevant credentialing experience.
Knowledge and understanding of the credentialing process.
Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including, letters, memos and emails.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to research and analyze data.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, and contacts outside the organization.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) and internet resources.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone:
Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Other: Requires occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted. Requires frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting sitting, with some lifting
