Develops, implements and manages all functions of the Medical Staff Services Department at Lawrence General Hospital. Ensures adherence to current accreditation, licensing and regulatory standards and requirements. Works closely with the Medical Staff President and other physician leaders to ensure effective, ongoing support of medical staff functions. Maintains all appropriate files and records related to Medical Staff operations, ensuring confidentiality of all information.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
Maintains up-to-date records of Medical Staff operations including, at a minimum, the individual files of members of the organized Medical Staff and the minutes of all operational and policy-setting committees of the Medical Staff.
In collaboration with the LGH Medical Staff President, develops and implements systems to ensure that all Medical staff By-laws, Rules & Regulations, policies, procedures and practices adhere to accreditation, licensing and regulatory standards and requirements and serves as an expert resource regarding current requirements.
Ensures LGH adherence to all requirements set forth by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine for reporting disciplinary actions taken against any medical staff member in accordance with the By-laws.
In collaboration with the Medical Staff President, Department Chairs and the Credentials Committee Chair, designs, implements and provides ongoing support for the Medical Staff credentialing, privileging and reappointment process and ensures the implementation of an effective system for ongoing professional practice review and focused professional practice evaluation.
Works with the Continuing Medical Education Committee to ensure an ongoing program that meets all accreditation standards and requirements.
Supports the Medical Staff President in planning and managing meetings and activities related to the LGH Medical Staff operations and serves as the administrative support for the Medical Executive Committee, Credentials Committee and meetings of the Medical Staff.
Ensures the department is staffed with adequate number of qualified staff and assumes responsibility for all department personnel requirements and needs. Computer literacy is required, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, healthcare data management and report preparation. Excellent customer service, organizational, oral and written communication skills are essential. Ability to operate presentation equipment is necessary.
Five years experience in the management of hospital medical staff operations are required. Experience must include staff supervision, accreditation, licensing and regulatory compliance and systems design. Bachelor's degree is preferred. Consideration will be made for candidates with equivalent experience or certification. CPCS or CPMSM preferred.
