Christiana Care Health System is looking for a Credentialing Specialist to assist in the in the credentialing/privileging process for assigned medical-dental staff departments and sections. The Credentialing Specialist will ensure compliance with: a) Christiana Care policies and procedures: b) Medical-Dental Staff Bylaws, policies and procedures; c) State and Federal requirements; and d) accreditation standards; and assistwith coordination and development of rules and specialty criteria for assigned medical-dental staff departments.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitates accurate and timely credentialing/privileging process for assigned departments during initial appointment and re-appointment.
Assembles information thoroughly to identify potential quality of care issues, behavioral problems, appropriate education and training and monitoring activities of health care providers granted staff membership and/or patient care privileges.
Interfaces effectively with the Manager and Assistant Manager of Medical-Dental Staff Services all aspects of the assigned credentialing process.
Facilitates the organization of appropriate credentialing material as required for presentation to Medical-Dental Staff Services management and respective department/committee chairs.
Prepares credentialing/privilege agendas, participation in meetings and follow up action for assigned departments/sections.
Records conclusions and recommendations succinctly and accurately to substantiate actions taken by assigned departments. Maintains and protects the confidential records of proceedings.
Facilitates the development of policies and procedures and implementation of policy changes as necessary for assigned departments/sections.
Participates in all aspects of the utilization of the Medical-Dental Staff credentialing system.
Communicates relevant credentialing information to Medical-Dental Staff Services management as appropriate.
Provides professional and technical assistance to health care professionals of assigned departments/sections.
Attends training sessions and workshops in assigned area to stay current on accreditation and other medical standards.
Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Minimum experience of three years in medical or dental staff credentialing activities. CPCS and/or CPMSM certification required.
